Visitor information

Te Papa is New Zealand's national museum, offering visitors a unique and authentic experience of this country's treasures and stories. Over five floors, you can explore the nation's nature, art, history, and heritage - from the shaping of its land to the spirit of its diverse peoples, from its unique wildlife to its distinctive art and visual culture.

Opening hours

Museum: 10am-6pm every day of the year, until 9pm on Thursdays.
Christmas Day and New Year's Day: open 10am–6pm
Te Papa Store: 9am-6pm every day, till 9pm on Thursdays (phone +64 (0)4 381 7441).
Te Papa Kids' Store: 10am-6pm every day
Te Papa Cafe: 9am-5pm every day.
Level 4 Espresso: 10am-6pm every day, till 9pm on Thursdays.

Admission

Entry is free. Charges apply to some short-term exhibitions and StoryPlace.

Parking

Open and covered parking space is available at Te Papa seven days a week: $3.50 per hour up to a daily maximum of $12, or $6 for the evening if you arrive after 5pm. more>

Food and Drink

Te Papa Cafe and Espresso are welcoming you on level 1 and level 4. more>
