Conditions of entry

The following terms and conditions of entry are set out in the entrance to the Museum:
Welcome to Te Papa!
So that everyone’s visit is as pleasant as possible, please observe these conditions of entry:
- don’t smoke – Te Papa is a smokefree environment
- don’t eat or drink, except in the restaurant or café areas
- leave all animals outside
- leave all skateboards at the Entrance
- don’t photograph Museum objects – details below.
Also, we suggest that you make use of our baggage check, and note that security cameras are operating.

Photographers
Visitors may photograph, film, or video people, general scenes within the Museum, and the building itself for private study and research only. Images taken in this way may not be sold commercially or displayed publicly (for example, via the Internet). Please refrain from directly photographing, filming or videoing any work or object on display in the Museum.
Photography, filming and videoing may be prohibited in some exhibitions. Where this is the case, this limitation will be clearly communicated through signage at the entry to the exhibition.
