National Services Te Paerangi Team

NZMuseums project - in a nutshell

The NZMuseums website (www.nzmuseums.co.nz) was a basic directory featuring 358 museums. National Services Te Paerangi, in partnership with Vernon Systems Limited, has redeveloped the website to allow museums to place collection objects, images, exhibitions and events information online, similar to websites such as www.collectionsaustralia.net and www.pictureaustralia.org.

This redevelopment will be most useful for small to medium-sized museums, which may be unable to afford to do this themselves. It has been designed with their needs in mind, but still allows larger institutions to contribute content.

With ongoing training and support from National Services Te Paerangi, your museum will be able to add and manage your information through private, secure access to the website. You will contribute your information through:

  • use of simple online forms accessed via the Internet, or
  • a simple-to-use upload process that will be developed for museums that already have a collection management system.

What's in it for your museum?

Want to know what's in it for your museum to join NZMuseums? Download our FAQ sheet which includes the following information:

  • Who is the end-user of this site - the target market?
  • How is the change occuring?
  • How much will this cost?
