StoryPlace Birthday Party times are available twice daily during term time. Sessions run for 45 minutes for up to 25 people.
A StoryPlace Birthday Party includes stories, songs, free play, dress-ups, art activities, make-believe, face painting and a birthday meal. You may like to provide wrapped gifts for a treasure hunt inside, or you can choose a special party theme.
Following the StoryPlace session, party food for children is provided by Te Papa Café, on Level 1, for your guests. You are welcome to bring your own cake to be served in the Café.

Bookings for Birthdays@StoryPlace need to be made at least one week in advance, and sessions are subject to availability. If you would like more information about parties and food options, or to make a booking, please phone (04) 381 7000.
Birthday Party sessions cost $50 plus catering at Te Papa Café.
(Term time only. Excludes public holidays).
1. 10.15am – 11.00pm followed by a meal at Te Papa Café until 12pm
2. 1.30pm – 2.15pm followed by a meal at Te Papa Café until 3.15pm
Gifts
If you make a StoryPlace Birthday Party booking, you get a 10% discount if you purchase birthday gifts from Te Papa Kids’ Store, Level 2.
It doesn’t have to be a birthday party!
Make a group booking for any of the StoryPlace sessions – there are five each day. Programme themes change every three weeks.
Exclusive group bookings (closed to other members of the public) cost $75.00.
Group Bookings for 10 or more people cost $3 per person.
Te Papa Café Trading Terms & Conditions:
1. The birthday table is reserved for 1 hour only, and must be promptly vacated
after this time.
2. No changes can be made to the pre-agreed birthday menu.
3. Pre-party storage, plates, serviettes and a knife will be provided.
4. Food and beverages for adults accompanying children is not included in the party menu. A selection is available for purchase at the Café counter.
5. This cannot be pre-ordered and table service is not available.
6. An account for payment can be arranged with counter staff.
To avoid disappointment, please do not ask our staff to provide additional services or to waive these trading terms and conditions.
